Exposure visit to learn about the challenges of mandatory TB notification implementation

It is mandatory to notify any diagnosed tuberculosis case to the National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) of Bangladesh. But there has been no functional reporting system that can be used by different entities who diagnose TB, i.e. hospitals with TB diagnostic facilities, private physicians who diagnose and treat TB etc. With support from USAID’s Challenge TB Bangladesh project, icddr,b developed a tool for TB notification in Bangladesh. To tackle the challenges of field implementation, a team of scientists and NTP personnels went to an exposure visit to India to learn from the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme of India. The team gathered significant insights on implementing a TB notification tool from this exposure visit.
