BACKGROUND
This study estimated the supply-side costs of services of the Bangladesh NTP during the base year 2016 and target years 2017-22 using the one health tool (OHT). The study conducted consultative meetings with experts and key informants, field visits, and reviewed documents to collect TB interventions and cost-related data. The study revealed that the costs per patient for a shorter regimen of multi-drug-resistant TB (MDR) and pre-extensively drug-resistant TB (Pre-XDR) treatment are substantially less under the new treatment regimen of 2019 compared to the previous regimen of 2016, which can be scaled up. The study also found a funding gap of US$ 235.2 million, indicating a requirement for additional investment to deliver TB services effectively up to 2022.
OBJECTIVES
- To estimate the unit cost of TB services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment) and the cost per case by service delivery channel in the base year and target years.
- To estimate the total cost of drugs, supplies, and labor consumed in TB service delivery during the base year 2016 and expected to be consumed in the target years 2017–22.
- To estimate the costs required to get the projected TB service impacts during the target years 2017–22.
