Bangladesh Health Facility Survey (BHFS)

The Bangladesh Health Facility Survey (BHFS), led by National Institute of Population Research and Training (NIPORT), is the nationally representative health facility survey in Bangladesh and follows the 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2022 BHF surveys, which provides information on the availability of basic and essential healthcare services and the readiness of health facilities to provide quality services to clients. Similar to the previous surveys, the 2022 BHFS gathered data from all categories of health facilities run by the government, NGO clinics and hospitals, and private for-profit hospitals in all 64 districts of the nation. Through the RDM Activity, icddr,b provided technical assistance in tools development, quality assurance of data collection, data analysis, and dissemination of findings of BHFS 2022.
In cases, however, the 2022 BHFS also assessed whether more sophisticated components were present, such as Newborn Signal Function is introduced for the first time to assess the facilities whether they are ready to provide service specific for newborns or not.
